Outdoor mosquito control is all about suppressing mosquito numbers, as no treatment can provide 100% elimination of mosquitoes. To reduce the mosquito numbers around your property we need to target both adult mosquitoes and mosquito larvae.
Adult mosquito treatment
Our professional mosquito spray is an add on service to our general pest treatment. In addition to the standard general pest spray to the exterior of buildings, the mosquito treatment targets mosquito resting places – the underside of foliage, under decking, under tables and chairs, and around BBQ areas. This type of treatment creates a mosquito interception zone – it targets the areas mosquitos land and hide. Scientific research has shown that this type of treatment on its own can reduce mosquito numbers by up to 80% for 6 weeks or more.
Mosquito Larvae Treatment
Some mosquito species breed in small bodies of still water. If we can identify and eliminate all the breeding sites on your property, we can prevent the mosquitoes laying eggs, which means no mosquito larvae and a drop in the number of adult mosquitoes. Examples of common breeding sites are blocked gutters, drains, plant pots, etc. Sometimes there are bodies of water which cannot be removed (eg. water features) and we can sometimes treat these with a larvicide which prevents the larvae developing into adults.

Types of Mosquito in Brisbane
There are many different types of mosquitoes in Brisbane but not all of them will bite humans. The main types of mosquitoes in Brisbane that bite people are the saltwater mosquito, Aedes vigilax, the freshwater mosquito, Culex annulirostris and the container-breeding mosquito, Aedes notoscriptus. They are day time biters, that carry a range of diseases, include dog heartworm. Eliminating problems with container-breeding mosquitoes is up to the homeowner.
How to Prevent Mosquito Problems
Remove mosquito breeding sites by eliminating all bodies of standing water – block drains and gutters, puddles, etc. Empty plant pots and bromeliads of water every 2 weeks or less.
A professional mosquito treatment targeting mosquito resting places creates a mosquito interception zone. Mosquitoes entering the yard will be eliminated when they land at these resting places.
Even with a mosquito treatment there will always be a few mosquitoes around.
